Over 85% of all products that are sold in the United States are packed in cardboard. Cardboard is the single largest component of municipal solid waste around the world. It comes from a raw material called pulp which is extracted from trees.

Purpose
The purpose of this project is to reuse corrugated cardboard and design a functional chair using only cardboard and glue.

Background
There are two concerns about dogs in which their owners may not have found satisfactory solutions. The fi rst concern is their dog’s oral hygiene. According to research, 70% of the dog population starts to show signs of oral disease without proper dental care by age three.
Oral disease may lead to tooth loss or other health problems. The second concern is leaving their dog at home alone for long periods of time. Destructive tendencies stem from boredom and result in unwanted behavior. How can we prevent periodontal disease and entertain a dog when left home alone? To address the dog’s potential oral dental disease as well as unwanted behavior stemming from boredom, it may be worthwhile to design a product for a dog’s overall wellness.

Background
Because our sense of hearing allows us to interact with our environment and communicate, the human ear fullls a very important role in our daily life. Deaf people, however, cannot have all these benets from sound. They not only cannot hear but may not speak, it may be due to early acquired deafness. Communication is a major challenge that deaf people encounter daily in a hearing society.
The purpose of this project is to design a device for easier communication between deaf and hearing people.

Hypothesis
If a device can facilitate communication between deaf and hearing people, then deaf people will feel more comfortable communicating with hearing people. Moreover, this device will help bridge the communication gap between deaf and hearing people.

User Interview
“ It’s difficult to call my deaf co-worker from behind.”
“ I almost hit a bicycle because I couldn’t hear him calling.”
“ When reading lips, it can also be mentally exhausting.”
“ Communicating with others in any social situation is important for me.”
“ Often I miss the delivery person.”
“ Sometimes I turn the light switch on and off to alert my deaf friend.”

The device alerts deaf people important sounds around their working environment. MEMS microphone captures sounds such as fire alarm, doorbells, or an individual’s calling and transfers them into visual like pictogram and blinking lights.

Project Brief
Everywhere is a high-end foldable electric scooter that gives you a safe ride. Wide tracking back wheels provide good balance and the digital dashboard will inform you of speed. Also, high power LED tail lights and headlights make the vehicle conspicuous after dark.
